At Marie’s Beauty Salon & Supply in Anchorage, we also work extremely hard to support members of our community, and that’s why we’ve chosen to work with Clare House. Clare House is a local charity through the Catholic Social Services (CSS) organization in Anchorage that helps both moms and children. Our team at Marie’s has made it our mission to offer financial support to this organization, and we need your help. What Is Clare House?

For some families, taking care of basic needs such as food and shelter is a struggle, and Clare House works hard to provide those families with what they need. When a family enters the emergency shelter program, the team at Clare House works hard to address their basic needs. Those who enter the program are often struggling and living in survival mode. At Clare House, the workers provide 24/7 support for moms and their children to help them transition out of survival mode and into more permanent stability.

In addition to addressing basic needs, Clare House also offers case management services, which can be vital for women who want to shift their lives and become more stable and independent.

How They Support the Community

Clare House is an organization run through Catholic Social Services. CSS helps to oversee the emergency shelters that families can go to when they are in need of help. When a family arrives at the emergency shelter, they are provided with meals, a warm place to sleep, and more. While CSS is designed for all people in the Anchorage area who find themselves without a home, Clare House is specifically designed to assist women and children.

The goal of Clare House is to break the cycle of poverty by offering support, life skills classes, case management, and so much more. In fact, in the year 2019, Clare House provided 27 thousand meals to women and children throughout Anchorage.

In addition to working hard to find a solution for women and children who experience homelessness, Clare House also offers a Progressive Housing Program. Through this program, families get help finding a place to live where they pay reduced rent and can stay for up to two years. During this time, the family can work towards self-sufficiency while they save funds to eventually find permanent housing.

Clare House does a lot to help homeless women and children in the Anchorage area, so you may be wondering how you can give back to this wonderful organization.
